General Guidelines and Etiquette
- Since 7-9 games are being played, it is expected that each player will be mindful of the time. Excessive typing in chat, excessive talking in voice, unnecessarily long pauses, or any distractions that slow the game down are generally frowned upon.
- It is not a requirement, but it is recommended that each player have an ad blocker. This helps speed the games along and minimizes the chance of a player getting stuck and/or disconnected.
- Please make sure your internet connection is strong so that you minimize the chance of being disconnected.
- Players should not leave the table during gameplay.
- Boot button: in the event that a player gets stuck and the “Boot” button shows up, do not boot anyone until it is determined that the player cannot continue.
- Disconnection: in the event that a player does get disconnected due to connectivity issues or ads, the game will continue with a bot. Disconnected players may rejoin during the next game.
- Exception: if all players at the table unanimously agree to restart gameplay instead, this ruling will supersede the above etiquette rule.
- Table talk of any kind will not be tolerated.
- Any other type of play that may be considered cheating, including distractions and intentional disruptions of regular gameflow, will lead to immediate disciplinary action, up to and including being removed from the tournament.
Streaming/Broadcasting Etiquette
- If you are the one streaming the games, please adhere to all of the above rules, especially those pertaining to internet quality, ad blockers, and general pacing.
- If you are watching the stream, please refrain from distracting the commentators. Excessive talking can disrupt the flow of the broadcast. Make sure your mic is muted when not speaking.
- Please be mindful of critical comments made on the broadcast. These games are recorded and uploaded online. It is one thing to be critical of a certain play, but under no circumstances should a player ever be made to feel inferior or disrespected because of it. Everyone plays the game differently, and there are a lot of different skill levels. But we are all here to learn and also to support each other.
- If a player needs to take a break during league play, they should tell the table and provide the timeframe. All players should return to the table after the requested timeframe.
This list is not considered final and may be updated at any time as new issues/challenges arise.
